THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for an IT Systems Engineer to maintain, support, and enhance our IT infrastructure. This role focuses on system administration, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and driving IT projects from start to finish.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a solid technical foundation ready to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and grow into our resident expert on AI-powered IT workflows. You will provide technical guidance to the IT Support and Solutions teams and ensure that day-to-day operations are consistently improved. We are looking for someone who is AI-forward—excited to evaluate and deploy new solutions that help our team scale efficiently.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Identity & Access Management: Assist in managing user accounts and permissions across Mac, Windows, and Linux environments, focusing on Okta Workforce, OIG, and group governance.
Endpoint & Device Management: Maintain MDM baselines and patching across a multi-OS environment using tools like Kandji, FleetDM, and Scalefusion.
Tier 3 Support & Escalation: Resolve complex IT service tickets and provide high-level technical support to internal users.
AI Agent Development: Contribute to building and iterating on AI agents and automation pipelines (e.g., ticket triage, onboarding) using AI tools, , MCP servers, Workato, or custom API integrations.
AI Research & Advocacy: Serve as the primary resource for evaluating emerging AI tools, leading efforts to deploy solutions that improve workflows, and helping teammates incorporate AI into their day-to-day work.
Responsible AI Governance: Partner with Engineering, SRE, and Security to ensure AI tools are deployed safely, responsibly, and in compliance with Flock's data governance standards.
Data-Driven Operations: Monitor system performance and identify issues proactively to ensure uninterrupted operations and platform health.
Collaboration & Documentation: Create and maintain clear runbooks and documentation for IT processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
THE SKILLSET
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience), combined with 1–3 years of proven experience as an IT Systems Engineer, system administrator, or in a similar IT support role.
Foundational Tech: Strong knowledge of MacOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems.
Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, PowerShell, or Bash to "automate the boring".
Cloud & SaaS: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and SaaS administration (Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian).
MDM & Identity Mastery: Experience with MDM systems (Kandji/Iru, Jamf, FleetDM, ScaleFusion, etc.) and an understanding of identity platforms like Okta.
AI Mastery: Hands-on experience evaluating, deploying, or building AI-integrated workflows—including familiarity with MCP servers, automation platforms (Workato, n8n), or LLM API integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini).
Advanced Tooling: Experience with AI agent frameworks or orchestration tools.
Strategic Execution: Ability to work strategically in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment under tight deadlines with the comfort to drive an idea from research to implementation.
AI Enthusiasm: A genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for AI: you follow space developments, rapidly evaluate new tools, and aren’t afraid to experiment.
Responsible AI: Understanding of responsible AI practices, including data privacy considerations when using AI tools with sensitive company data.
Security Mindset: Understanding of basic security principles, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and responsible AI practices regarding data privacy.

Systems Familiarization: Become familiar with IT Solutions Engineering (Identity, Endpoints, SaaS) and IT Support Procedures at Flock.
AI & Automation Audit: Audit current AI tool usage across IT and identify "quick-win" automation opportunities specifically targeting repetitive tasks like onboarding or ticket triage.
Guiding Principles: Review existing configurations against the "Security by Default" and "Least-Privilege Access" principles.
The First 60 Days: Implementation & Prototyping
Optimization: Implement recommended improvements identified during the assessment phase, focusing on enhancing performance, security, and scalability across Okta, Kandji, and Atlassian stacks.
Project Contribution: Participate in ongoing IT projects (e.g., SaaS onboarding, group governance) by contributing your expertise to their success.
Knowledge Sharing: Share findings and recommendations with the team through updated documentation, presentations, or training sessions.
System Standards: Update and maintain documentation of system configurations, standards, and runbooks to ensure team-wide alignment.
