The Survey Technician I operates surveying instruments and equipment in the field to collect accurate measurements and data for boundary surveys, construction projects, topographic surveys, and other land-surveying activities. They will work under the direction of a licensed surveyor or survey crew chief. This role will require travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, levels, and data collectors.
- Establish and verify survey control points and benchmarks.
- Take measurements of angles, distances, elevations, and coordinates.
- Assist with boundary, topographic, ALTA, and as-built surveys.
- Read and interpret survey drawings, plans, maps, and field notes.
- Record field measurements accurately using electronic data collectors and surveying software.
- Locate property corners, monuments, utilities, and other physical features.
- Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments and equipment.
- Perform calculations and check field data for accuracy.
- Assist the survey crew chief and surveyor with daily field operations.
- Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe work area.
- Occasionally work in difficult terrain, construction sites, and varying weather conditions.
