Medina Hospital’s 3 South General Medicine Unit is a 32-bed unit specializing in general medical/surgical care and observation for adult and geriatric patients. 3 South delivers care to various other conditions including pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, GI bleed, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, various cancers, kidneystonesand bowel obstructions. This unit also cares for patients undergoing hysterectomies, thyroidectomies, colon resections and appendectomies. 3Southhas achieved notable success, withnumerouscaregivers receiving prestigious awards for their outstandingcontributions and dedication. Additionally, the team has beenrecognized for innovating and implementing best practices thatenhancepatient care andimproveoverall outcomes.
As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you willassistand provide direct patient care while supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN).This position involves heavy patient contact, including ADLs and ambulationassistance.A PCNA in this roleshould be familiar withidentifyingbasic changes in patient status andhave the ability tobe flexible and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Here, you will have the chance to work alongside our nurses and physicians who are eager to teach, welcome new caregivers to theteamand help them climb the professional ladder.
A PRN caregiver in this positionworksvariabledays and hours. Working48 hoursper 6-week period will berequired.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide orassistwith patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight,assistingpatients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoringdevicesand removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical,mentaland emotional conditions to an RN.
Assistwith keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period
Nursing students:Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationrequiredupon hire
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
