The Heart Failure Intensive Care Unit at Cleveland Clinic features 10 private beds and cares for adults with complex and advanced heart failure. The unit cares for patients withongoing medical conditions, including those awaiting heart transplant or needing intensive medical care. Nurses provide specialized treatments and closelymonitorpatients’ condition. Some patients mayrequireadvanced support, including mechanical ventilation, intra-aortic balloon pumps, or left ventricular assist devices. The unit also cares for adolescent and adult patients with pulmonary hypertension who require specialized monitoring and treatment.
As an experienced RN on this unit, you will have the opportunity to build on your critical careexpertisewhile caring for patients with complex and advanced heart failure. You will work with advanced therapies and devices, strengthen your clinical skills, and care for patients who require close monitoring and specialized treatment. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement andmonitorpatient care plans.
Monitor,recordand communicate patients’ conditions.
Evaluate, update and revise plan of care tofacilitateachievement of planned and expected outcomes
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess andcoordinatepatients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
Administer prescribed medications and treatmentin accordance withapproved nursing protocol
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
One yearcurrent acute care RN experience in a hospital setting
Will consider military RN experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossupon hire or within one year of employment
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
