Union Hospital’s 6100 Medical Floor provides care to patients ages 18 and above with chronic illnesses, such as COPD, CHF, and diabetes, and post-op patientswho have had aknee replacement, shoulder surgery, hip replacement, colostomies, and exploratory laps. This unit has caregivers ranging from new graduates to 30+ years of experience, and they all work collaboratively to provide the best possible care to their patients.As an RN on this unit, you will deliver exceptional care throughout thepatientcare journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. Here, you will have the opportunity to advance your nursing skills each day and climb the clinical ladder. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering your education, committee participation and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills even further.
A caregiver in this position worksnightsfrom 7:00PM – 7:30AM, including rotating weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate,updateand revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess andcoordinatepatients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
Oneyear of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor ofScience inNursing (BSN)
