Key responsibilities
AECOM is seeking an experienced Architect:Aviation to join our multidisciplinary team supporting the planning, design, and delivery of major airport infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and development of airport facilities, working collaboratively with aviation specialists, engineers, planners, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, sustainable, and high-quality environments for passengers and airport operations.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex aviation projects across the full project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction, and completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop architectural concepts, designs, and technical solutions for airport facilities and associated infrastructure.
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, schedules, reports, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate architectural design with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, fire, security, baggage, and other specialist disciplines.
- Support the planning and design of terminals, passenger facilities, airside and landside buildings, operational facilities, and other airport infrastructure.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building regulations, aviation standards, accessibility requirements, health and safety legislation, and client requirements.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, workshops, stakeholder consultations, and project presentations.
- Coordinate with airport operators, authorities, airlines, contractors, and specialist consultants where required.
- Assist with design development, technical detailing, construction documentation, and site activities.
- Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and technical proposals during construction.
- Identify design risks, interfaces, and coordination issues and contribute to effective solutions.
- Promote sustainable design principles and support AECOM's commitment to resilient and environmentally responsible infrastructure.
- Contribute to project programmes, budgets, quality assurance, and successful project delivery.
- Mentor and support junior members of the architectural team.
