Occupational Therapists providemany wide-ranging services to a variety of people, from infants to older adults.Occupational therapy is provided to people who have been referred by a physician due to a problem with their ability to perform normal activities of daily living (ADLs).This may be due to physical injury, emotional or developmental problems, stroke, elective surgery, disease processes, aging, or birth defects, just to name a few.The goal of OT is to maximize the ability ofeach individualto perform self-care, work, and leisure activities to the best of their physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities.Ultimately, thegoal is also to help patientsre-learn skills needed to live independent, productive, and satisfying lives.

A PRNcaregiver in this position works daysfrom8:00AM – 4:30PM, including, at minimum,fourweekend days in an 8-week schedule period, one major and two minor holidays per year and availability to work on a periodic weekday.
Tradition Hospital will be the primary worklocation, but floatingto Martin North and Martin South Hospitals will berequired, as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations,impairmentsand disorders.
Provide occupational therapy services to clients with upper extremity injuries,diseaseor disability.
Provide evaluation for clients not limited to joint assessment, musculoskeletal functions, sensorimotor skills, functional and work abilities.
Develop a treatment plan based on data collected as well as implement, monitor, andmodifyplan to achieve goals.
Provide occupational therapy techniques not limited to P/ROM, joint mobilization, massage, myofascial release, desensitization techniques, dressingchangesand job simulation.
Utilize thermal and electrical physical agent modalities not limited to providing hot/cold packs,fluidotherapy, paraffin/contrast baths, ultrasound, phonophoresis, TENS, NMES, HVPGS, iontophoresis, and biofeedback.
Fabricate custom splints, select/order adaptive devices/equipmentand train client in use.
Communicate effectively with fellow caregivers and family membersregardingclient's condition.
Provide a written status report to referring physician each time client is to see their physician and when is a workman's comp case to otherappropriate parties.
Assiston occasion with Industrial Service Department clients.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor,Masterand/or Doctoral Degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the State of Florida
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Internship experience
