As a Radiation Therapist, you will implement prescribed treatments to patients with various forms of cancer. Radiation is administered in therapeutic doses and can send certain localized forms of cancer into remission. It can also be used to prevent the recurrence of particularly malignant forms of cancer after they have been removed during surgery. In this role, your work is an essential element of our innovative care plan designed to aid the cancer fighting journey. A caregiver in this position works 8-hour days between 7:00AM – 6:00PM. Working extended days,dependingon business needs, may berequired.The rotating call schedule includes weekdays from 5:00PM – 11:00PM and 24x7 on weekends.
This caregiver will rotate between St. Lucie West and the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Centerat Martin North Hospital.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide therapeutic and patient care services to deliver radiation therapyas prescribed bya physician.
Determineand deliverappropriate patienttreatment plans in collaboration with physician and dosimetrist.
Monitor and documentthe patient'sconditionandreport any adverse reactions.
Assess and educate patients according to specific department protocols.
Position patients and select anatomic/technical parameters accurately.
Check and adjust necessary equipment, including linear accelerator.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of a CAHEA approved School of Radiation Therapy technology or registry eligible
Board certified Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in good standing
Current stateof Floridalicensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Experience with Radiation Oncology-specific electronic medical records
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience with External Radiation Therapy, IMRT, IGRT and CT Simulation
Aria,Truebeamand Siemens CT sim experience
