The Registered Nurse (RN) on Q5 delivers compassionate, specialized care to patients recovering from cardiac surgery, including advanced minimally invasive robotic procedures, in a 19-bed Cardiovascular ICU. This fast-paced, collaborative unit isdedicated to innovative cardiovascular care, exceptional patient outcomes, and excellence in critical care nursing.
Unit Description:Q5 is one of the Cardiovascular ICU’s. It’s the newest and is onlyabout 6 years old (2025). 19 beds. The specialty is robotics minimally invasive cardiac surgery that uses robotics to perform heart operations through small incisions. Patients typically stay on this unit for one day but others longer. At most 2-3 days. 2 pts per RN. 2CTS on days and 1-2 onnights. RNs up to 10 per days. ANM in bed assignment ifnecessary.
A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, from 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am. Weekends and holidays rotation required.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
*If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment
One year of current acute care RN experience
Military RN experience will be considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
