The IntensiveCareUnit(ICU) at Tradition Hospital sees patients with life-threateningillnesses or injuriesand complex medical conditions.When providing critical care,nothingis more important thanteamwork. As an RN, you will work alongside dedicatedCTs, TCCs, RNs,physiciansand othercaregivers to ensure patientsreceive the best possibleemergency attentionand constant monitoring throughout treatment. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying nightsfrom7:00PM– 7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate,updateand revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administerprescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess andcoordinatepatients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school ofProfessionalNursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS)Certificationthrough the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross
One year of currentcriticalcareRN experienceORlicensed military RN experience
Completion of a Critical Care Course or validated OJT for critical care settings
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor'sof Science in Nursing (BSN)
NIH Stroke Scale Certification– if you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it
