The5N Oncology Unitspecializes inadvanced treatments for various cancer diagnoses.As an RN, you willassistfellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, frominitialintroduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly withoncologypatients,theirfamiliesand visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources,including furtheringeducation and online/in-person courses to enhanceyourskills.
Acaregiverin this position works daysfrom6:45AM – 7:15PM, with weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate,updateand revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administerprescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess andcoordinatepatients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accreditedSchool ofProfessionalNursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
Oneyear of current acute care RN experienceORlicensed military RN experience
Completion of an ONS Chemo/Bio Course withintwoyearsof hireif employed on units where chemo is administered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sofScience inNursing (BSN)
Oncology experience
