TheH70OrthopaedicsUnitis dedicated to caring for adult post-operative orthopedic patients andoverflowpatients from the Neurological Institute and Department of General Surgery. Common surgeries performedonour patients include total hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty, revisions of hips, knees, and shoulders, and sarcoma resection. Osteoarthritis is the primary underlying disease for most of our patient population, along with infections of joints, osteomyelitis, fractures, sarcoma, and avascular necrosis.
A caregiver in this position works a day/night rotation from 7:00AM – 7:30PM or 7:00PM – 7:30AM. D/N rotation – 6 weeks on Days6 weekson Nights.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
Provide direct nursing care alongside asuccesscoach.
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patientpreferenceand resource availability).
Respond to dataindicatingrisk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or preventrisk.
Seeksupervision,consultationandassistancewhen unable to perform safely and independently.
Documentinpatients’ medical records.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing(Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)OR American Red Cross
New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
