As a Medical Technologist, you will perform and interpret tests at allcomplexitylevels. Using your understanding of the theories and technical,proceduraland problem-solving aspects of Laboratory Science, you will aid in the search todeterminethe best mode of care for patients. We will hire our clinical laboratory testing personnel in three different job titles, based on educational background:
Medical Technologist
Med Lab Technician
Lab Technician
A PRN caregiver in this position works variable shifts from 9:00PM – 7:30AM or 10:00PM – 6:30M.Availability Monday-Friday and rotating weekends and holidays isrequired.
Floating between St. Lucie West and Tradition Hospital will berequired, as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role, will:
Conduct quality laboratory testing and result reporting.
Ensure that results are reported in compliance with the goals and standards of the department,hospitaland applicable accrediting organizations (AHCA, CLIA, COLA, and JCAHO).
Accuratelyidentifyeachpatientspecimen and testing orders and ensure results areaccurateand reportedin a timely manner.
Ensure specimen integrity and identification and resolve specimens not meeting testing criteria.
Identifyand resolve pending specimen results from laboratory informationsystemfor assigned departments.
Report pertinent information to the physician, patient careareaor supervisor (e.g., panic values, instrument malfunctions, delay in testing,reagentor supply depletion).
Note “dates opened” and “expiration dates” and use reagents and controls only to theirexpirationdates.
Maintain cleanliness,organizationand stock of work area.
Follow troubleshooting procedures to correct deficiencies or problems as they occur with instruments and equipment.
Ensure instrument operation and results are reliable and perform maintenance checks, startups, and shutdowns as assigned orrequired.
Answer the telephone, greetcustomersand provide consult and technical support to the physicians,phlebotomistsand nursing staff.
Follow quality control policy and ensure controls are within acceptable limits before patient results are reported.
Document quality control and out of range results inan appropriate manner.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Associate’s Degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Technology or equivalent
Licensed in the State of Florida at the technologist levels
One or more of Microbiology,Immunohematologyor other licenses
Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Medical Technology
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
One year of clinical experience
Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank/TransfusionMedicineand/or Serology licenses
