Duties
- Supervises, organizes, assigns and distributes workload among assigned technical staff to ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory.
- Performing laboratory procedures for all disciplines and functions and ensuring the completion of assigned workload.
- Ensuring the maintenance of quality control and equipment within assigned areas of the laboratory.
- Maintaining an inventory management system for the efficient utilization and distribution of laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Maintaining a system for detecting, documenting, and reporting discrepancies/errors and taking appropriate action(s) as required.
- Recommends and communicates changes to enhance the efficient and cost effective operation of the laboratory.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of new and/or revised testing, procedures, protocols, and performance standards.
- Assessing technical staff regarding performance.
- Operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining cleanliness of laboratory equipment and work area; preparing written and electronic reports required to document procedures and test results.
- Participating in teaching, educational, safety, and quality improvement programs.
- Performs cross-functional and other duties consistent with job classification as assigned and/or required.
- Observing and understanding Hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Adhering to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality.
