Position Summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to assume the role of Nurse Practitioner (NP) within the Krembil Brain Institute (KBI) Epilepsy Outpatient Program.

Working primarily in an ambulatory care setting, the Nurse Practitioner functions in an advanced practice role with a high degree of autonomy and clinical expertise. The NP is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and longitudinal management of patients living with epilepsy. As a key member of the interdisciplinary epilepsy team, the NP supports patient-centered, evidence-based care while contributing to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and education for patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Utilizing advanced theoretical knowledge and expert clinical skills in epilepsy care, the Nurse Practitioner will:

• Collecting and interpreting data about the health of the patient.
• Determining a medical diagnosis and treating complex responses of individuals and families to actual or potential problems.
• Playing a leadership role and performing quality improvement and administrative responsibilities.
• Participating in policy and procedure development; performing research activities.
• Delivering, coordinating and participating in education and professional development activities/programs.
• Performing activities to further develop and strengthen the profession.
• Acting as a resource and serving as a consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community and other hospital/agencies.
• Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
