We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shotcrete Sprayer to join our team for a high-profile metro tunneling project in Toronto. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the precise and safe application of shotcrete to tunnel walls and other underground structures, ensuring strict compliance with project specifications and internationally recognized standards, such as EFNARC or ACI. This role demands a strong understanding of underground construction techniques and the ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate advanced shotcrete spraying equipment, specifically the Normet Spraymec 8100 VC, to apply concrete to tunnel surfaces and underground structures.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operation inspections and perform regular maintenance on shotcrete equipment to guarantee peak performance and minimize downtime.
- Apply shotcrete in accordance with EFNARC or ACI standards, ensuring high-quality surface finishes and structural integrity.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, geotechnical teams, surveyors, and other operators to optimize shotcreting activities and meet project deadlines.
- Adapt spraying techniques based on dynamic site conditions and changing project requirements, ensuring proper thickness and adherence of shotcrete.
- Prepare and document accurate records of shotcrete application, including sample testing for strength requirements (e.g., round panels, beams, cylinders) as per project and safety specifications.
- Identify operational inefficiencies or mechanical issues, promptly report them to supervisors, and implement corrective actions to prevent disruptions.
- Ensure effective ventilation, dust control, and air quality maintenance within the tunnel, complying with health and safety standards.
- Maintain constant vigilance for potential hazards (e.g., unstable ground, water ingress, gas emissions) and mitigate risks by taking preemptive measures.
- Participate in regular safety briefings, drills, and training sessions, ensuring a strong commitment to health and safety protocols.
- Use and enforce the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), promoting a safe and compliant work environment.
