The Crane Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and reliability of all lifting equipment on the project, including Tower Cranes (hammerhead and luffing – Potain & Liebherr) and Overhead Cranes (Imocom).
The role combines technical expertise, supervision, and coordination, ensuring that all crane activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project and regulatory requirements. The Supervisor will manage a team of crane technicians, coordinate external service providers, and collaborate closely with the plant, logistics, and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Technical Oversight
- Lead and coordinate all preventive and corrective maintenance for mobile and tower cranes, hoists, rigging equipment, and related lifting components.
- Conduct and document regular inspections to ensure equipment compliance with TSSA, ESA, OHSA, and manufacturer standards.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on cranes and oversee repairs.
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection logs, and maintenance reports.
Team Leadership
- Supervise crane technicians and maintenance staff, ensuring safe and efficient execution of all tasks.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Coordinate daily/weekly work plans and allocate resources based on operational priorities.
Planning and Coordination
- Work closely with Plant, Logistics, and Construction teams to schedule crane maintenance without disrupting site operations.
- Manage relationships with vendors, OEM service teams, and third-party inspectors.
- Ensure availability of required parts, tools, and maintenance resources.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to OTG safety standards and provincial regulatory requirements.
- Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Champion a strong safety culture across crane operations and maintenance teams.
