The Buildings Manufacturing Manager leads the buildings production team, overseeing daily shop operations across fabrication, fitting, welding, blast, and paint for power distribution buildings. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for directing production operations, driving schedule adherence, setting quality and safety standards, and actively leading process improvement and automation initiatives. The Buildings Manufacturing Manager is expected to maintain a consistent shop-floor presence, improve workflows, modernize fabrication processes, and build a high-performance production team.
Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage daily production across fabrication, fitting, welding, blast, and paint operations, ensuring schedule, quality, and safety commitments are met.
- Provide direct leadership to the production team, including coaching, performance management, workforce planning, and skills development.
- Develop and execute production schedules, capacity plans, and labor forecasts, tracking efficiency and driving accountability at the shop-floor level.
- Identify, justify, and implement automation and capital improvement initiatives (e.g., robotic cutting, automated fabrication systems) to improve throughput, consistency, and safety.
- Establish and enforce production discipline, standard work, and repeatable processes across all fabrication activities.
- Champion safety leadership, enforcing HSE standards, leading incident investigations, and promoting a proactive, zero-incident culture.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, including internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
- Use data and operational metrics to drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts that reduce waste, shorten cycle times, and improve overall shop performance.
