JUST ONE, on behalf of its client, a leading maritime provider specializing in vessel management on a global scope, is looking for a Cadet/Crew Manager.
Responsibilities
1. Daily Cadet Engagement
- Maintain a daily onsite presence at the training institute.
- Build personal relationships with cadets through regular onetoone and group interactions.
- Provide pastoral care, guidance, and support for academic, personal, and social challenges.
- Act as a visible point of contact for cadets and institute staff.
2. Oversight of Conduct and Performance
- Monitor discipline, attendance, behaviour, and academic progress.
- Identify early signs of disengagement, idleness, or conduct concerns.
- Intervene promptly where standards fall short; document issues and follow escalation protocols.
- Liaise with institute faculty to track performance and resolve behavioural matters.
3. Cadet Development
- Design and manage extracurricular activities that enhance soft skills, leadership, teamwork, and professional readiness.
- Facilitate workshops, mentoring sessions, and structured development plans.
- Promote positive habits, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
- Encourage integration into the institute community and promote cultural awareness for both cadets and local stakeholders.
4. Relationship Management
- Serve as the Tetra Foundation’s ontheground representative with the Greek training institute.
- Navigate cultural dynamics between young Nigerians and Greek academic staff professionally and sensitively.
- Ensure the Foundation’s expectations and standards are consistently understood and applied.
5. Reporting & Administration
- Provide a weekly written report to Foundation management covering:
- Individual cadet performance
- Conduct and discipline matters
- Engagement levels and morale
- Key activities, interventions, and recommendations
- Maintain accurate records of cadet interactions, issues, and progress.
- Support structured decision making on cadet continuation, discipline, or additional support requirements.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Cultural fluency and sensitivity
- Experience in youth engagement, pastoral care, mentoring, social work, education support, or community development.
- Confident, organised, and able to enforce standards while remaining supportive and approachable.
- High professional integrity, discretion, and resilience.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
