About the Role
We're looking for a marine education consultant to help us grow and strengthen Blue Tech Academy. This is a contracted role to start; roughly 10–15 hours per week. However, there is the potential for this role to become one of the first full-time employees at a new marine technology nonprofit where BTA operates as the flagship program.
You'll be working at the intersection of curriculum, community-building, and program operations. The ideal candidate brings a background in marine science or ocean-related fields and is genuinely excited about connecting students of all ages to ocean careers and exploration through accessible marine technology.
What You'll Do
Curriculum Development
- Develop written educational materials including student-facing materials, lesson plans, and facilitation resources
- Review and contribute to BTA curriculum materials, ensuring content is scientifically accurate, engaging, and NGSS standards-aligned
- Help refine the overall learning flow and module structure of BTA
Program Management
- Coordinate the execution of Blue Robotics facilitated BTA workshops, including materials, facilitators, and equipment logistics
- Support BTA inquiry reviews, proposal development, and contracting
Facilitator Network Development
- Design and build a network of instructors who can deliver BTA in schools and community settings
- Develop onboarding materials, training resources, and support systems for facilitators
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential facilitator partners (teachers, informal educators, marine science professionals)
Outreach & Documentation
- Create materials that clearly communicate how educators can engage with BTA
- Support outreach efforts to expand BTA's reach into new schools, organizations, and regions
- Document program learnings and help shape the future vision of BTA
