Role Overview
The SCADA / Manufacturing Systems Architect is responsible for defining, standardizing, and scaling Beehive’s industrial data and supervisory control systems across multiple manufacturing sites. This role will establish the architecture, standards, and best practices for SCADA systems built on Ignition, enabling secure, reliable, and scalable real-time visibility into production operations. Reporting to the Director of Industrial Engineering, this position plays a critical role in enabling data-driven manufacturing, improving process capability, and supporting operational excellence across aerospace production environments.
What You'll Do...
- SCADA Architecture & Standardization
- Define and own the enterprise SCADA architecture and deployment strategy across all manufacturing sites
- Establish standards for system design, tag structures, naming conventions, alarm management, and data models
- Develop scalable templates, libraries, and reusable components to enable consistent multi-site deployments
- Architect system topologies including gateways, redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery
- Platform Ownership (Ignition)
- Serve as the technical authority for Ignition across the organization
- Configure and deploy platform components including gateways, modules, security, and data connections
- Develop and maintain HMI/SCADA applications, dashboards, and visualization standards
- Utilize scripting (Python) and database integrations to enable advanced functionality
- Systems Integration & Digital Architecture
- Define integration patterns between SCADA, MES, ERP, historians, and enterprise platforms
- Establish standards for data flow, contextualization, and interoperability across systems
- Partner with IT and cybersecurity teams to design secure, scalable OT architectures
- Support digital thread initiatives connecting engineering, manufacturing, and quality systems
- Manufacturing Data & Industrial Engineering Enablement
- Enable real-time visibility into production performance, machine utilization, and process capability
- Define data models that support throughput analysis, bottleneck identification, and capacity planning
- Support Industrial Engineering initiatives through structured data capture and analytics
- Ensure alignment between SCADA architecture and operational KPIs
- Manufacturing Data & Compliance
- Ensure SCADA architecture supports aerospace quality, traceability, and regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100)
- Define strategies for capturing CTQ parameters and process verification data
- Support validation, configuration management, and audit readiness across systems
