At Famly, Sebastian and Jakob are looking for a DevOps engineer to join our DevOps team of three (including you). You will be working in a small, effective team, with little process, and if there is a good idea to try something out, we just do it. You will have a technical manager who contributes code daily.
This means we are looking for someone who takes a lot of ownership of their tasks, and can run with them, even if they are not very well defined yet, in return it's easy to ask questions, and get unblocked. To iterate fast, we are looking for someone who wants to work in the office. We require at least 4 days per week at the office in Central Copenhagen (Købmagergade).
Are you hyped about AI?
Like many companies, we are betting heavily on AI to improve our workflows. We are investing time to upskill all our engineers and improve the tooling around it to make it even better. We don't expect you to be an expert, but if you don't believe AI will drastically change the way we work over the next few years, you might not be ready for the ride we will be on!
(Don't worry, it doesn't mean we think AI can do everything; this job post is written by a human, because it's about creating a human connection).
“DevOps” is broad. What does it look like at Famly?
Generally, we are the ops team, but working in a developer-centric way, with pull requests, and having our infrastructure as code in terraform and in IaC in general.
We have over 1 million users that make ~15.000 requests per second (during peak), across 4 clusters, for different customer segments.
DevOps in Famly is not responsible for CI and application observability, but we, of course, help when we have the skills, as it’s a very collaborative company.
What you'll be doing:
Building and maintaining infrastructure in AWS and SysEleven
Respond to alarms and incidents (Don’t worry it’s not that often)
Work daily in git
Optimise cloud cost
Change and create services in kubernetes
Automate (the boring parts of) your job away
Stare at grafana graphs and realise you need to add another one
Work with this list of tech, to give you an idea about our techstack, and searchability: AWS, terraform, terragrunt, kubernetes, git, github, claude, github actions, grafana, prometheus, docker, argocd, MySQL, Kafka, Sentry, clickhouse, cert-manager, keda, traefik, valkey, trivy, karpenter, rclone, nix, bash, python
Your background is not important. Sebastian comes from a classic ops background. I (Jakob) used to be a developer at Famly. What's important is that you can add something to the team, and learn and grow into someone who provides value to Famly.
It also doesn't matter if you are new in the field or have many years of experience; the salary will be adjusted to your level.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
Are hyped about AI making things easier
Can really understand things on a deeply technical level and communicate them
You think infrastructure as code first, even when testing in staging
Take a lot of ownership, and can navigate uncertainty
Have a “get shit done” attitude
Consider the customer, even in a DevOps role
Are more afraid of not learning than failing
Make your team mates shine (Yes, very selfish of your potential future team mate to write this)
Communicate clearly and kindly (we're 45+ nationalities, and our company language is English)
While we’d love someone who has experience in the arena doing this type of work, we appreciate that everyone brings something unique. If you don’t tick every box above, to hell with it - apply anyway. We’d still love to read your application.
The interview process looks like:
Screening call with our People & Talent Partner
Logical test
Interview with the hiring manager
Take-home technical assignment
Personal interview
And who are Famly?
You’re probably wondering at this stage, and Famly are...? Well, it all began when our co-founder Henrik’s daughter was ready to start at daycare. He couldn’t believe the amount of work being done on paper - and how distant he felt from his first child during the day. The paper ‘parent’ books they exchanged once a month just weren’t cutting it. Together with his friend, our co-founder and CEO Anders, they set about solving that.
These days, the 180 of us building Famly talk about trying to do one thing. Giving children the best possible start to life. Or rather, making it easier for the 8000 nurseries and childcare centers who use Famly every day to that, on our behalf.
We do it with the world’s first Early Childhood Platform, software that brings hundreds of thousands of parents closer to their child’s day while they’re away from them. We also make financial, pedagogical, and planning tools for more than 100,000 childcare professionals in the UK, US, Germany and 15 other countries, saving them hours and reducing their admin stress.
Ultimately, that gives them more time and headspace for the little ones that really matter.
You'll love working here because of:
Competitive pension, private health insurance, and paid maternity/paternity leave.
A clear career framework and coaching to make sure you're growing, a 10,000 DKK personal development budget and a 'We'll buy you any book you want' policy.
We're all about hiring clever people who are good humans too. It means Famly is full of top thinkers and generous teammates waiting to help you shine.
A belief of 'make your colleagues shine' is all about breaking down silos, celebrating one another, and staying connected across departments, offices, and oceans.
We like to give a lot of ownership, both in terms of responsibility and freedom to try new, challenging tasks.
We invest in AI developer tools — you'll have access to GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, and more.
Top-notch work equipment (You can even run Linux!).
The compensation is:
Our salary range is 40–60,000 DKK per month, depending on experience.
