The Aeronautics Engineering organization is seeking senior engineers to lead the FS Analysis technical discipline within the newly established Vehicle Engineering (VE) CoTE. This key leadership role reports to the Aeronautics Systems (AS) Flight Sciences & Vehicle Integration (FSVI) CoTE Director and is responsible for discipline specific processes, technical manuals, and training to elevate technical excellence across the FS Analysis discipline.
The Staff Engineer Aeronautical - Flight Sciences Analysis Discipline Lead will directly support the VE FSVI Discipline Director to deliver sector wide technical discipline capabilities for processes, tools, and training within the FS discipline. As a Discipline Process Technical Owner (DPTO), this technical leader will leverage subject matter expertise and own the continued development of Sector discipline products to ensure process excellence and promote compliance in collaboration with program technical leaders, spanning the full product life cycle across the portfolio of NGAS.
The ideal Staff Engineer Aeronautical - Flight Sciences Analysis Discipline Lead is an influential connector and trusted steward of their discipline — combining deep technical expertise with a passion for technical training and development, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This leader will collaborate closely with other VE discipline leads, CoTEs, AS Engineering Organizations, programs Strategy and Business Development, and other Sector and Corporate organizations.
The Staff Engineer Aeronautical - Flight Sciences Analysis Discipline Lead will have responsibility for several FS sub disciplines, including Aerodynamics, Performance, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Configuration, and Propulsion.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Support strategic vision and technical priorities for the FS Analysis discipline, aligned to long-term Sector strategy
Lead projects with contributions from Sector subject matter experts in the FS Analysis discipline, supporting process, tool, and training development with a goal to strengthen technical excellence and workforce capabilities that result in improved business results.
Partner with NG Fellows within the FS Analysis discipline to advance Sector- and Enterprise-wide emerging technologies and future workforce capabilities.
Develop and maintain FS Analysis Principles and Operating Practices (PrOP), Process Asset Library (PAL) manuals, and Nimbus Process Models, ensuring technical excellence and compliance in partnership with program execution teams
Develop, deploy, and sustain FS Analysis discipline tools, ensuring tools are integrated into discipline process models, supporting overall digital solution strategies, and are relevant, scalable, and interoperable across programs
Develop FS Analysis training curriculums and plans to enable a prepared and high-performing work force to promote technical efficiency and effective tool usage in support of program execution teams
Develop and monitor FS Analysis discipline-specific metrics to measure process, tool, and training effectiveness
Manage the FS Analysis discipline budget, including indirect and non-contractual technical efforts to advance tools, processes, and workforce capabilities that generate measurable impact on program performance and future competitiveness.
Regularly interface with FS Analysis discipline program leaders to identify program needs and identify solutions that can close gaps in engineering tools, processes, and technical training
Build and sustain a strong FS Analysis Community of Practice (CoP) by leading working groups that promote knowledge sharing and the identification of strategies and associated priorities for process, tool, and training initiatives that ultimately foster collaboration and acceptance across programs
Represent the FS Analysis discipline in Sector-wide and Enterprise-wide technical development efforts to establish technical career pathing, technical training, and critical skills investment.
Contribute technical expertise and process leadership in major proposal reviews, program reviews, independent technical reviews, program stand-up reviews, NCTA and indirect activities, and other sector-wide improvement efforts.
Act as a trusted advisor to help resolve technical performance shortfalls through root cause analysis, corrective action planning, long-term verification of improvement.
Capture, share, and embed lessons learned and best practices across programs to continuously raise the bar for technical performance.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 12+ years of related professional/military experience within the Aerospace and Defense industry, OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10+ years of related professional/military experience within the Aerospace and Defense industry, OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8+ years of related professional/military experience within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
Must have an active U.S.Government Secret Clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and eligibility for Top Secret/ SCI
Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR)
Experience working across the total program lifecycle.
Excellent leadership skills, and written communication skills.
Expertise in establishing engineering standards, tools, and processes at scale.
Experience with the development of aircraft in one of the following flight science domains, Configuration, Propulsion, Aerodynamics, Vehicle Performance, CFD
Experience utilizing engineering standards, tools, and processes across the product development lifecycle
Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and geographically dispersed teams
Experience with or exposure to digital design initiatives and solutions
Knowledge of industry practices for developing software defined systems
Experience on program execution teams aligned to the FS Analysis in at least one of the following FS subdisciplines: Aerodynamics, Performance, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Configuration, and Propulsion.
Ability to travel as needed (approx. 25%)

Knowledge of industry practices for developing and utilizing engineering design and analysis software systems.
MS or MBA degree
Lead experience in an integrated product team environment, leading agile development teams.
Program management experience

This position supports all the Aeronautics Systems business divisions, at all of the Aeronautics Systems primary geographic sites including: Melbourne, FL; Palmdale, CA; San Diego, CA; and South Bay (El Segundo / Redondo Beach / Manhattan Beach), CA; Oklahoma City, OK; Iuka, MS and Moss Point, MS. This position is geographically flexible and can be based out of any one of the locations listed above.
Primary Level Salary Range: $144,900.00 - $265,600.00
