In Nationwide’s Investment Management Group (IMG), we deliver institutional‑quality investment solutions and advice that drive outcomes for members and Nationwide Financial (NF) businesses. We are organizing our work through strategic segments – Insurance, Retirement and Financial Intermediaries – and need segment leaders who can connect products, partners and insights to measurable results in each market.Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Define and execute the segment strategy, including product development, fund adoption and acquisition, vehicle expansion, pricing strategies and product/menu changes that improve competitiveness and profitability for the segment.
Connect projects and activities (for example, fund substitutions, managed account initiatives, fund adoptions and pricing work) explicitly to segment‑level financial and client outcomes.
Develop and maintain segment scorecards and KPIs – including sales, AUM, net flows, PTOI and other metrics such as retention, penetration and profitability – and use them to show progress on segment goals and to inform business performance reviews.
Create segment‑appropriate product strategies focused on investment experience, marketability, profitability and business contribution for each IMG product available to that segment.
Develop and execute multi‑year strategies to increase adoption of IMG funds and solutions, improve profitability for IMG and NF businesses, and improve net flows within each market segment.
Serve as the primary IMG contact for NF product and distribution teams in the assigned segment, handling all investment‑related requests and translating them into clear recommendations and actions.
Provide ongoing investment support to distribution teams to help meet sales goals, including competitive intelligence, product and portfolio positioning guidance, and portfolio mapping and analysis support.
Develop and lead wholesaler training and enablement for the segment. Establish repeatable processes for investment training and education. Create and maintain sales, positioning and portfolio materials. Oversee wholesaling efforts of IMG products within NF products and support unaffiliated institutional sales of Nationwide mutual funds where applicable
Provide training, content and enablement to partner teams (for example, Retirement Solutions (RS), Institutional Investment Distribution (IID), Nationwide Securities (NSLLC), Strategic Account Management (SAM) and other NF partners) so they can effectively position IMG solutions and tell a consistent investment story in the segment.
Bring segment‑specific insights and thought leadership – including market trends, asset manager views, competitive dynamics and performance context – that help NF partners and external clients understand and use IMG solutions.
Build and maintain segment dashboards and views of leading and lagging indicators, such as pipeline, menu placement, performance, penetration and governance health, to support decisions and tell a clear performance story.
Lead and develop a high‑performing team of directors, consultants and analysts, providing regular coaching, feedback and development support across IMG and NF.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive and change‑ready culture that emphasizes business ownership, accountability, data‑driven decisions and continuous improvement.
Ensure the team demonstrates deep knowledge of investment products and markets, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to partner effectively across IMG, NF businesses and external firms.
Role model Nationwide Values and IMG leadership expectations in all interactions with associates, partners and external firms.

Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field. MBA, CFA or similar advanced credential strongly preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Designations: FINRA licenses appropriate for investment product distribution leadership (for example, Series 6 or 7, 24, 63 and 65 or 66), and applicable state insurance licenses as required for the role. Otain and maintain any additional registrations required as products, platforms or responsibilities evolve.
Experience: 10+ years in investment management, asset management or related financial services roles with direct exposure to mutual funds, CITs, separate accounts and/or insurance‑embedded investment solutions. Proven track record leading product, investment consulting, distribution support or business development teams in the asset management or retirement/insurance marketplaces. Experience designing and managing product menus, executing fund substitutions, driving fund adoption or acquisitions, and working with distribution partners to grow sales and net flows. Demonstrated success building and executing multi‑year strategies that improve profitability, deepen partner relationships and enhance client outcomes
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Deep knowledge of investment products, capital markets and manager research concepts, with the ability to translate technical topics into clear business implications for NF leaders and partners. Strong business acumen, including understanding of P&L drivers, pricing, contribution economics and the linkage between product design, distribution strategy and financial outcomes. Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, including comfort working with performance data, flows, pricing and profitability analytics to inform decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including executive presence and the ability to influence senior leaders, asset managers, consultants and distribution partners. Proven leadership skills, including the ability to set direction, motivate and develop teams, manage through change and build a culture of accountability and collaboration. Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously, prioritize effectively and adapt to changing market and business conditions.
