Buyer, Staff
As a Buyer, you are responsible for performing a variety of routine buying/purchasing tasks involving materials, supplies, or services. You will review purchase requirements and places orders with approved suppliers. Evaluates bids, select and/or recommend suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, quality and service. Follows up on all awards until completion of order.

Type: Full-time, Regular position
Pay Range: $60,000-$65,000

Your Challenge:
Purchase and maintain proper inventory levels of all raw materials and finished goods.
The purchasing activities for assigned customer projects and customer demand requirements.
Procure commercial and safety related materials ensuring compliance, quality, and on time delivery.
Evaluate demand requirements and develop sourcing strategies to support project timelines.
Manage purchase orders from initiation through completion, including expediting and issue resolution.
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to support long term supply stability and performance.
Support strategic sourcing initiatives when applicable.
Set up an onboard new vendors.
Assist with RFQ's, expense purchases, and departmental workload queues as needed.
Collaborate cross-functional with operations, engineering, sales, and quality teams.
Perform JIT (just in time) purchasing.
Maintain and administrate vendor contracts.
Review and maintain proper safety stock levels.
Negotiate vendor pricing.
Perform other related duties or functions assigned.
Your Expertise:
2-3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or supply chain with full cycle procurement exposure.
Strong understanding of purchasing processes from demand planning through order fulfillment.
Experience evaluating vendors, sourcing materials, and managing supplier performance.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred).
Background in manufacturing required; fastener industry experience strongly preferred.
Experience with nuclear industry suppliers or safety related materials is a strong plus.
Ability to interpret technical requirements such as drawings or specifications is a plus.
Bachelor’s Degree (Business Administration, Supply Chain)

Knowledge of material management functions which includes procurement planning and processes.
Ability to effectively communicate with others.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proven negotiation skills.
Display an understanding of the importance of product quality and compliance with health and safety procedures.
