The Lead Systems Administrator/Engineer for Mac Infrastructure, working independently, will direct staff in the execution of enterprise Apple device management, security, and deployment activities to ensure FINRA's Mac ecosystem meets defined quality standards. This role focuses on JAMF Pro administration, application packaging, and maintaining security compliance across all Apple devices.
Essential Job Functions:
- Review and analyze complex macOS system specifications, JAMF policies, and MDM configurations to ensure delivery requirements are met for Apple device deployments. Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, identify patterns, and generate insights from configuration data.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Apple ecosystem management, including JAMF Pro, Apple Business Manager, and macOS deployment strategies.
- Design, implement, customize, maintain, and administer complex macOS environments, JAMF Pro infrastructure, and Apple device management solutions at enterprise scale.
- Recommend and lead implementation of macOS updates, security patches, JAMF Pro version upgrades, and Apple hardware refresh cycles across the organization.
- Develop and maintain application packaging workflows for macOS software distribution, including PKG creation, DMG deployment, and self-service policy configuration within JAMF. Utilize AI-assisted tools to streamline packaging processes and enhance workflow efficiency.
- Lead security vulnerability remediation efforts for macOS devices, including patch management, configuration profile deployment, and compliance monitoring through JAMF Pro security baselines. Apply AI-powered threat intelligence and predictive analytics to prioritize remediation efforts.
- Implement and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) integration for macOS devices with EntraID (Azure AD), including authentication policies, Kerberos configuration, and Platform SSO deployment.
- Configure and maintain conditional access policies, device compliance requirements, and EntraID integration for Apple devices to ensure secure access to corporate resources.
- Ensure the Company's Reliability, Availability and Serviceability (RAS) metrics are sustained across the Mac infrastructure.
- Evaluate Apple ecosystem trends, JAMF updates, and emerging Mac management technologies to proactively recommend and implement changes to improve metrics and extend service capabilities. Develop and present related documentation, presentations, and discussion.
- Implement and update monitoring tools for macOS endpoints, JAMF Pro health checks, MDM enrollment status, and device compliance reporting.
- Monitor macOS system performance, JAMF infrastructure health, and MDM service availability to achieve optimum performance levels. Utilize AI-powered analytics to identify performance trends and proactively address potential issues.
- Document test strategies for macOS deployments, application packages, and configuration profiles, as well as create/revise and execute test scripts for JAMF policies. Help others with the creation/revision of their scripts. Use AI-assisted code generation and documentation tools to accelerate script development and improve team productivity.
- Test and analyze Apple hardware configurations, MDM enrollment processes, and automated deployment workflows.
- Oversee implementation of security guidelines for macOS devices including FileVault encryption, LAPS, and security configuration profiles to prevent unauthorized access and report any violations.
- Lead collaboration with other team members and teams to ensure Mac infrastructure solutions align with customer expectations and overall technology vision and goals.
- Document and communicate test results for JAMF deployments, macOS updates, and security remediation activities in a timely manner including metric reporting.
- Champion the collaborative resolution of macOS-related defects and JAMF policy issues. Work across the organization to develop solutions that meet joint requirements.
- Direct internal process improvement initiatives for Mac device lifecycle management. Provide feedback on processes by offering suggestions. Utilize AI to identify automation opportunities and optimize workflows for enhanced team efficiency.
- Mentor junior staff on Apple device management best practices, JAMF administration, and macOS troubleshooting.
- Participate in internal process improvement committees and Apple/JAMF user groups as a Mac Systems Engineering/Operations representative.
- Provide backup coverage for more senior management.
- Assist with adherence to technology policies and comply with all security controls, including Apple-specific security frameworks and zero-trust architecture for endpoints.
- Ensure all work products meet/exceed FINRA standards for Mac infrastructure and device management.
- Participate in periodic Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) testing and reporting for Mac infrastructure components.
- Manage vendor relationships with Apple, JAMF, and third-party Mac management solution providers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using AI tools to enhance personal productivity, automate repetitive tasks, and drive innovation in Mac infrastructure management.
- Demonstration of FINRA's values.
- Collaboration, both in-person and virtually, in furtherance of FINRA's mission of investor protection and market integrity.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least seven (7) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience;
Master’s degree and past Financial Services industry experience preferred.
Past senior level systems administrator experience in a production data center environment.
Knowledge of industry leading monitoring and diagnostic tools
Knowledge of at least one operating system and at least one contemporary scripting language.
Knowledge of communication and network technologies.
Exposure to common operational practices like metrics reporting, change management, incident management, problem management and communication ITIL & ISO:9000 framework experience/certification preferred.
Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.

Work Conditions:
Hybrid work environment, with defined in-person presence requirements.
Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.

In addition to location, actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s skill set, level of experience, education, and market considerations.

IL/PA: Minimum Salary $125,900, Maximum Salary $228,000
MA/MD/VA/Washington, DC: Minimum Salary $131,200, Maximum Salary $238,300
