As a School Facilities and Grounds Technician at New Story Schools, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment both inside and outside of the school. You will play a key role in ensuring that school grounds, walkways, and facilities are well maintained year-round, supporting daily operations and creating a positive experience for students, staff, and visitors.
Part-time position with flexible hours, approximately 20–25 hours per week, Monday through Friday; morning availability is highly preferred.
What You’ll Need
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or general maintenance preferred
Valid driver’s license
Ability to safely operate grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers, snow removal tools, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and awareness of safety in outdoor environments
Ability to perform physical labor and work in varying weather conditions
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
What You’ll Do
Maintain school grounds through mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and seasonal landscaping
Keep walkways, entrances, parking lots, and outdoor spaces clean and safe
Perform seasonal duties including snow and ice removal, leaf cleanup, and storm recovery
Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment safely and effectively
Monitor outdoor areas and report safety hazards or maintenance needs
Assist with light indoor maintenance such as changing light bulbs, minor repairs, and facility upkeep
Support cleaning needs, event setup, and classroom preparation as needed
Respond to work orders and maintain basic records of completed tasks
Collaborate with school staff and supervisors to support smooth daily operations
