The G70 Hematology and Oncology Unit focuses on the diagnoses and treatment of various malignancies and hematologic diseases, from new diagnosis to the end of life. The dedicated caregivers on this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to adult patients receiving chemotherapy, targeted cancer therapies, radioactiveiodineand other types of radiation therapies. G70 has a positive, team-orientedand supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset. Within six months ofstarting onthis unit, nurses can become āchemo-competentā and become experts at administering chemotherapy and understanding chemotherapy reactions.
A caregiver in this position worksday/evening rotation| 7:00amā7:30pm or 7:30pmā7:00am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Ā
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement andmonitorpatient care plans.Ā
Monitor,recordand communicate patientsā conditions.Ā
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.Ā
Assess andcoordinatepatientsā discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Ā
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Ā
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
External applicantstwo years of recent related nursing experienceĀ
Internal applicantswith less than two yearsā experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
Will consider military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
