General Summary
Essential Job Accountabilities
Safety Leadership
1. Champion a “Safety First” culture by modeling safe behaviors and holding all team members accountable to safety standards.
2. Conduct daily “Take 5” safety talks and weekly tailgate meetings to reinforce safety awareness and hazard recognition.
3. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety policies through regular inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
4. Collaborate with the Safety and Environmental teams to implement and test SWPPP, hazardous materials plans, and emergency response procedures.
5. Investigate incidents and near-misses thoroughly and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Operational Oversight
6. Asphalt mix quality and aggregate gradation consistency
7. Coordination with QC/QA teams and labs to ensure quality
8. Trouble shooting plant issues
9. Plan, direct, and supervise mining, processing, stockpiling, loading, and distribution activities to ensure production goals are met safely and efficiently.
10. Monitor plant performance and material flow to identify and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
11. Ensure proper manpower levels and shift coverage to support continuous operations.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
9. Schedule and oversee maintenance and repairs of plant equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
10. Maintain accurate equipment records, including oil sampling, servicing, and repair logs.
11. Evaluate repair options (in-house vs. vendor) to ensure cost-effective decisions are made.
12. Manage spare parts inventory and perform semi-annual reconciliations.
Budgeting & Cost Control
13. Assist in preparing the annual operating budget and monitor monthly performance against targets.
14. Track daily operational costs and support forecasting and cost control initiatives.
Team Leadership & Support
15. Provide clear direction, training, and support to plant personnel to ensure safe and productive work practices.
16. Ensure timecards are completed accurately and submitted on time.
17. Support plant managers, foremen, and superintendents to ensure alignment with company goals and operational success.
Quality & Compliance
18. Ensure materials meet quality specifications by reviewing test reports and adjusting processes as needed.
19. Evaluate feasibility and cost of producing non-standard materials based on customer or project needs.
Education
High School Diploma
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Work Experience
Minimum 6 years experience in plants supervision.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
General knowledge of the materials business.
Knowledge and experience with Hot Mix Asphalt and Aggregate Plants.
Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Knowledge of plant operations, including scheduling, production, and maintenance.
Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information.
Possess practical knowledge of the function, operation, and maintenance of material processing equipment.
Ability to recognize hazards or unsafe work practices

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. Base Salary Range:
$105,831.00 - $175,018.00Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
