The Wireless/Telecommunication Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently performing a wide variety of field activities associated with installing, maintaining, and testing various telecommunication and wireless communication systems, components, & equipment in both the private and government sectors.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Install, configure, test and maintain wireless and other telecommunicationequipment and systems including antennas,radios,RF/fiberopticcabling,andassociatedequipment.
- Performsitesurveys,signaltestingandsystemoptimizationtoensurequalityandreliabilityofservice.
- Troubleshoot,diagnose,andresolvenetworkandequipmentissues inatimelymanner.
- Conductpreventivemaintenanceandequipmentinspections,documentandreportfindings.
- Climbandworksafely'ontowers, rooftops,poles,andotherelevatedstructuresasrequired.
- Ensure allwork isperformed in compliance withindustry safety standards, company policies, andregulatory requirements.
- Maintainaccuraterecords,reports,anddocumentationusingcompanytoolsandsystems.
- Collaborate withforeman, engineers, and other technicians tocomplete projects on time andto specifications.
- Respondtoservicecallsandoutagesasrequired, includingafter-hoursoron-call assignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- High SchoolDiplomaorGED required(orequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperience).
- Safetyandindustry relatedcertifications(e.g.OSHA10,OSHA30,NWSATTTl,Authorized Climber, Competent Climber/Rescuer,Rigging,RFAwarenesstraining,FirstAid,CPR &AED), preferred.
Work Experience
- Experience inthe wireless/telecommunicationconstructionindustry, privateand/or government sectors, preferred.
- Experiencein SmallCell(SC)sites,NewBuild(NB)sites,Distributed AntennaSystems(DAS),Tower Modifications (MODS), Microwave installation, coax, fiber optic cable installation and splicing, Cats/ Cat6 and testing (Sweep/ PIM), preferred.
- ExperiencewithIPNetworks,VoIP,wirelesstechnologies,anddigitalcommunicationsystems,aplus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- ProficiencywithMicrosoftOfficeproducts(Word,Excel,PowerPoint,etc.)preferred.
- Abilitytotestand troubleshootfiberoptics, coaxial,andCat5/Cat6cablingpreferred.
- Abilitytoreadandunderstandblueprints/sitedrawings,equipmentspecsheetsandscopesofwork.
- Abilitytodiligentlyoperateindustryrelatedequipmentandpowertoolswithindesignatedarea.
- Ability to work in safety sensitive construction settings, includingexposure to moving machinery andheavy equipment.
- Abilitytoworkandcollaboratewithateamorworkindependentlywithsupervision.
Physical Demands
- Abilitytoworkweekends,day,swing,andnightshifts(occasionallyextendedhours).
- Travelmayberequired.
- Work is performed both inthe field and indoors. This may involve exposure tooutdoor elements, heights, confined spaces, and around electrical equipment.
- Physicaldexterity,stamina,andexcellenthand-eyecoordinationwithabilityto:grasp,assemble,andlift objects,stand,sit,andwalkforextendedperiodsover unevensurfaces,squat,bend,climbladdersonto equipmentorotherobjects,andpotentially liedown.Seewell(naturally orwithcorrection) anddistinguish colors.
- Abilitytoworkat variousheightsonladders,rooftops,aeriallifts,andcommunicationstructures.
- Ability tosquat,crawl,andworkinawkwardpositions/confinedspaces.
- Abilitytoperformlifting,pushing,pullingofheavyitemsweighingupto50lbs.ormore.
