The Real Estate Services (RES) division of DCAS supports the operations of the government of the City of New York by providing services for the City鈥檚 real estate needs. RES is responsible for the space planning and management of 37 million square feet, Citywide acquisitions (lease or purchase), sales and other dispositions of City-owned real estate, architectural design and project management, zoning and land use analyses, disposition of 15,000 City-owned lots, property valuation, and financial analysis of real estate transactions.
RES seeks to hire a Chief of Staff who will report directly to the Deputy Commissioner of RES and perform a broad range of responsibilities. This position will play a crucial role advising the Deputy Commissioner and senior staff regarding business, legal, administrative, and strategic issues that arise across all units in the RES division. This includes Leasing and Acquisitions, Design and Construction, Real Estate Financial Services, and Land Use and Property Dispositions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work directly with the Deputy Commissioner and senior leadership to properly attend to real estate matters and the overall administration of the agency.
- Serve as liaison to agency staff, other agencies, and government entities for the Deputy Commissioner in decisions affecting policy, budget and procedural changes.
- Preparing detailed work plans for assigned projects including the methodology for needs assessments, procurements and allocation of resources.
- In collaboration with the communications team, actively engage in public affairs, legislative oversight and external response protocols.
- Performing complex research and preparing detailed summary, progress and tracking reports.
- Developing and implementing protocols for internal and external meetings.
- Prioritizing calendar activities and key initiatives.
- Overseeing the Human Resources needs of RES including recruitment, hiring, trainings, team-building, career advancement, EEO, discipline and other related issues.
- Maintaining organized files, resources and procurement documents for the division.
- Leading preparation of compliance reports.
- Representing the Deputy Commissioner at meetings with the Mayor鈥檚 Office, NYC agencies, division heads, executive management regarding implementation and private partners.
- Performing other various high level specialized managerial/executive functions at the Deputy Commissioner鈥檚 request.
