Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to provide the necessary preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance of equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs the diagnostic and repair work on plant equipment as indicated by maintenance request forms. Equipment includes pumps, valves, turbines, compressors, boilers, coal conveyors, fans, piping system and boiler tubes.
- Coordinates outage activities related to the maintenance department.
- Observes equipment performances while in normal operation.
- Rebuilds pumps and valves.
- Assists in test of mechanical equipment to determine optimal operating condition.
- Assists factory representatives on plant visits to repair equipment.
- Conducts the preventative maintenance program on equipment by determining the lubrication and inspection schedules.
- Responsible for reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor necessary spare parts needed for plant operation.
- Ensures proper alignment and specifications of equipment after repair or installation.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks as directed by Maintenance Supervisor and/or Shift Supervisor.
- Participate in organized training program and augments this training program through independent study to increase knowledge of plant’s mechanical systems and to improve mechanical skills.
- Ensure that assigned tools, equipment, and work area are properly maintained and secured.
- Observes plant safety rules, performs assigned task in safe manner, and is alert for unsafe acts and conditions.
- Is on call to handle emergency repairs.
