Role: Operations Technologist
Salary between £31-39k dependent on experience
Location: Midlands
Working for the Operations Leader, alongside Account Managers and Operations peers, the Operations Technologist will be responsible for achieving defined goals & objectives as well as working safely, compliantly and efficiently within a defined group of customer accounts. The Operations Technologist will take guidance from the Operations Leader and will service, recommend changes, report and communicate with customer representatives in accordance with the commercial agreement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EHS & Compliance
- Ensure work is undertaken in a safe manner at all times, and comply with internal, legislative and customer EHS requirements and policies.
- Completes Legionella sampling to best practice and utilises internal systems to document & monitor Legionella related works. Legionella training to be completed every 3 years.
- Independently follow and document Legionella positive response process.
- Competently carry out LCA audit checklist on EVS suppliers, across the area including sites not assigned to.
- Engagement with the Quality, Environment, Heath and Safety (QEHS) Gensuite system and associated tools to manage QEHS documentation and material. Use of the tool to manage RAMS, concern reports and other applications is essential as well as leading the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Plan compliance calendar tasks and inspection tool audits, ensuring evidence gathered
- Continual use of Shared drives for external & internal sharing and document management.
- SharePoint audits completed on sites within the area to identify gaps, identifying clear deadlines in place to action audit findings.
- Ensure correct SharePoint access and permissions for colleagues and customers.
- Undertake Point of Work Risk Assessment (POWRA) where appropriate.
- Competently carry out operational safety visits as well as verifying audits performed by Operational Analysts.
- Champions Water Tech Inclusion & Diversity objectives as well as any wellbeing initiatives.
Commercial
- Understands the commercial agreement at each assigned customer site and ensure the Account Manager is made aware of any customer requested scope change or over consumption to maintain profitability.
- Works with the Account Managers to ensure that the profitability and productivity plans as defined by the Sales Director are met.
- Ensures the Account Manager is made aware of any Customer Contact changes.
- Identify opportunities for upgrades to the Account Manager, whether chemical dosing equipment (Chemfeed), training, analytical services or increased scope of supply.
- Generate quotes for SAP items and liaise with the customer for fulfilment and delivery.
- Identify margin improvements for account managers to follow through on.
- Identify opportunities for value generated proposals/proof not promises and working with Account Managers to facilitate and finalise.
Service
- Undertakes all training within the desired timeframe as well as self-directed additional learning.
- Ensure a service plan is defined by the Account manager
- Optimise the service activities at the assigned customers, to maximise productivity & profitability
- Assisting the Operations Leader to provide adequate cover for Holidays.
- Execute the service plan. The service plan should contain, as a minimum, scope of supply of services, time & products as well as treatment limits, performance expectations & KPI’s.
- Communicates basic technical concepts to the customer and seeks help for solutions.
- Communicate with customers & wider Water Tech team, in a professional and timely manner, as well as raising issues with Ops Leaders and Commercial colleagues as required.
- Completes & submits Consultant Service Reports (CSRs) within agreed timescales and ensures CSRs always detail the Observations, Consequences and Actions for the customers attention.
- Delivers feedback on operational and technical aspects in technical reviews meetings with customers.
- Schedule & plan site visits throughout each month efficiently, ensuring Outlook is reflective of plans, ensuring visibility for Operations Leaders for scheduling.
- Ensure safe chemical delivery & storage procedure followed through awareness & engagement with RAMS, policies and procedures.
- Compile operations manual for customer sites as well as auditing those for other sites within the local area with support from others in Operations Team.
Equipment
- Calibration of personal & onsite equipment and generation of calibration certificates as required.
- Competent in all specialised maintenance of proprietary as well as third party technology & equipment.
- Operation of dosing pumps – changing dosing rates as required based on onsite test results and ability to safely repair dosing pump faults
- Independently diagnose issues found onsite and escalate or rectify as required.
- Liaise with Chemfeed on any potential software upgrades against current equipment on sites.
- Diagnose warning/error messages on control equipment and rectify.
- Utilisation & engagement of Water Tech digital data visualisation platform, InSight, to generate CSRs, manage trends & alarms, inventory stocks, add parameters & assets as required and escalate any issues as required. .
- Install and set up tank level sensors and link to remote tank monitoring.
- Drives digital projects across the local area.
- Review alarm limits with product applications specialist, account manager and customers.
- Troubleshoot and rectify connection issues with VWTS monitoring equipment.
- Create new InSight accounts, add assets and parameters with correct control ranges.
