The ATBPU Process Technician Apprenticeship Program is a two-year development pathway for diploma-qualified Engineering graduates to start a career in ATBPU refinery operations.
As an Apprentice Process Technician, you will gain hands-on learning across plant operations, process monitoring, laboratory sampling, and maintenance support, under the guidance of senior technicians and supervisors. You will rotate across key operational areas to build technical skills, operational discipline, and plant readiness. High-performing apprentices may be offered permanent roles upon program completion.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist and learn plant operation and monitoring, including operating process and utility units, performing field inspections, shift tours, and supporting start-up/shutdown activities under supervision.
- Support and learn process control activities, including sample collection, basic field testing, logging operating conditions, and assisting in adjusting process variables.
- Develop and learn basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills by identifying equipment irregularities, supporting maintenance preparations, and assisting Engineering & Maintenance teams.
- Learn and uphold Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements, participate in safety briefings and drills, and maintain proper housekeeping practices.
- Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork, reporting abnormalities, supporting shift handovers, and assisting Senior Technicians and Supervisors.
