Position Summary: 
The Technical Assistant, Research is responsible for assisting with the operations of the Research Laboratory Services, Glasswashing and Sterilization Facilities. The primary responsibilities include: collecting used glassware and lab coats from multiple UHN Research locations, preparing and washing glassware, delivering sterilized glassware and clean lab coats to multiple UHN Research locations, performing cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required.

Duties:

• Maintaining and cleaning facility and equipment: Assists with equipment cleaning and maintenance scheduling; Ensures all lab equipment cleaning is performed on a routine basis; Helps organizing facility cleanings and environmental testing; Maintains proper documentation.
• Organizing glassware and labcoat inventory: Assists with materials receipt process; Replenishes lab supplies for all rooms as required; Assists with documentation updates;
• Responsible for routine pickup and delivery of glassware and labcoats to locations throughout UHN buildings, daily;
• Prepare glassware and items for washing and sterilization, loading/unloading and operating washing units, loading/unloading and operating autoclaves, daily;
• Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
• Works in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner.
