The portfolio manager role will establish and enhance the function鈥檚 ability to strategically manage its portfolio. This involves developing and implementing effective processes, frameworks, and methodologies to select, prioritize, and manage projects and initiatives. The Portfolio Manager will collaborate with stakeholders to align the portfolio with business objectives, optimize resource allocation, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement. By building portfolio management capabilities, the Portfolio Manager will enable the organization to make informed decisions, maximize the value of investments, and ensure successful project delivery in alignment with the overall strategic goals of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Define the vision, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for portfolio management capabilities.
- Framework and Process Development: Design and implement a comprehensive portfolio management framework and associated processes aligned with related Seeds Development portfolios. Develop methodologies, templates, and tools to support portfolio management activities, including project selection, prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including the functional leadership team, project managers, and teams, to understand their needs and expectations. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment between business objectives and the portfolio.
- Evaluation and Selection: Establish criteria and methods for evaluating potential projects and initiatives. Develop a systematic approach for project selection, considering factors such as strategic alignment, business value, feasibility, and risk assessment.
- Resource and Budget Management: Implement processes to effectively allocate resources, including budget and personnel across the IT portfolio. Optimize resource utilization to ensure efficient delivery and maximize return on investment.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop metrics and reporting mechanisms to track the progress, success, and value of projects within the portfolio.
- Regularly communicate portfolio status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders through comprehensive reports and presentations.
- Risk and Issue Management: Establish a risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the portfolio. Implement processes for proactive issue identification and resolution to minimize disruptions to delivery.
- Capability Building and Training: Identify skill gaps within the organization regarding portfolio management capabilities. Develop training programs, workshops, and resources to enhance the understanding and adoption of portfolio management principles and practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and refine portfolio management processes, methodologies, and tools. Seek feedback from stakeholders and actively incorporate lessons learned to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of portfolio management capabilities.
- Industry and Best Practice Awareness: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in portfolio management. Share knowledge and insights with the team and leverage external resources to drive continuous improvement.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and standards related to portfolio management. Establish governance mechanisms to review and approve projects, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to established guidelines.
