Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence

The School of Engineering and Digital Sciences at Nazarbayev University is seeking candidates for the role of Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence in Chemical Engineering with focus on areas such as the development and application of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods on chemical and petrochemical processes as well as on the design of novel materials. This position is located within the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering and is scheduled to commence in August 2024.
We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. Post-doc experience is highly desirable. The selected candidate is expected to cover courses for the Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical and Materials Engineering Program, the Master of Science in Chemical and Materials Engineering Program, and the PhD in Chemical Engineering Program, starting from the Fall 2024 semester. 

The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering has graduated its first UG class in 2015 and has recently moved into brand new 2000 square meter facilities and state of the art laboratories. The Department offers Bachelors, MSc and PhD programs, and attracts some of the best students in Kazakhstan. Areas of research activity include Chemical Engineering, Advanced Materials Engineering, Materials and Systems for Energy Generation, Conversion and Storage; Environmental Protection, Remediation and Resource Efficiency; Risk Analysis, Aerosol and Climate Sciences;

Multiscale Materials Modelling and Processing and Biomedical Engineering. Since Fall 2018, the Department had adopted ABET-compliant undergraduate course of study and two new MSc programs, one in Chemical and Materials Engineering and the other in Biomedical Engineering, both of which are research-intensive and span a duration of two years.
