A Senior Server coordinates the entire service station and communicates with front of the house and back of the house personnel to provide a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations. Additionally responsible for supporting the dining room operations with duties that include coordinating the team, training new staff and handling customer service as needed for a single or multiple restaurants at an Eataly location. Reports to the Restaurant Manager.
The Senior server role is exclusively scheduled to work PM shifts.
- Greets guests and presents them with the menu
- Informs guests of specials, menu changes, answers questions regarding food, beverages and allergies
- Receives food and beverage orders from guests and relays to kitchen staff and bartender using a POS
- Maintains a high level of hospitality towards guests and other team members
- Serves as a resource for other tipped employees to provide a positive guest experience
- Supports management with new hire training
- Maintains a strong working relationship with the Chefs and full BOH team.
- Brings operational issues to the attention of the manager on duty
- Completes Comp and Voids under a total value of $50.00 for other tipped Servers and Bartenders as needed. Involves salary managers for all Comps and Voids above a total value of $50.00.
- Assists staff with Point-of-Sales tasks such as: transferring or merging checks, adding gratuity to a check when required by guest, making checks tax exempt when applicable.
- Completes certain operational duties such as: Print server reports, drop cash drawer into Glory, alert management of any cash discrepancies
- Ensures the restaurant front of house is properly closed at the end of the shift and set up for AM service the following day.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
