We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Bartender. The Bartender reports to the Maitre鈥檇 or Assistant Maitre鈥檇 and is responsible for delivering exceptional beverage and bar experiences that reflect Fairmont luxury brand standards. This role combines technical mastery, operational excellence, and superior guest engagement to create memorable experiences. The Bartender contributes to overall outlet performance, ensures compliance with health, safety, and Responsible Alcohol Service standards, and supports smooth operations of the bar and beverage service.
What you will be doing:
Beverage Service & Guest Experience
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, wines, spirits, and specialty drinks, consistently meeting brand and LQA standards.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service at all times, including the right to refuse service in accordance with local laws and hotel policy.
- Take and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar, ensuring timely delivery and exceptional presentation.
- Maintain full knowledge of beverage and bar menu items, promotions, and garnishes to answer guest inquiries, recommend drinks, and confidently recite daily specials.
- Deliver a professional, engaging, and personalized guest experience that reflects luxury service standards.
- Upsell beverages, food, and promotions to enhance guest experience and maximize outlet revenue.
- Be aware of guest allergies and dietary restrictions and proactively ensure safe service for our guests.
- Respond to guest feedback promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfaction and brand loyalty.
Bar Operations & Maintenance
- Set up, clean, and maintain bar areas, including glassware, garnishes, mixers, and inventory.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of back-bar, storage areas, refrigeration, and beverage preparation zones.
- Stock and replenish bar supplies and beverages throughout shifts, ensuring operational readiness.
- Operate POS systems and manage cash/charge transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Monitor beverage inventory, control portion sizes, and minimize waste to support cost-effective operations.
- Maintain compliance with all sanitation, hygiene (HACCP), and safety regulations.
- Complete opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, cleaning, stock counts, and securing bar areas as required.
- Handle glassware, equipment, and bar tools to minimize breakage, loss, and damage.
Teamwork & Operational Support
- Collaborate with restaurant, bar, and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service delivery during high-volume periods and special events.
- Maintain composure and performance under pressure, while demonstrating flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Be flexible to support service operations across all food and beverage outlets, adapting to changing operational needs.
- Maintain professional grooming, appearance, and conduct in line with Fairmont brand standards.
