We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Recreation Manager. The Recreation Manager reports to the Director, Leisure & Recreation and is responsible for the management and operational oversight of all recreational programs and facilities at the resort, including pools, beach, spa activities, golf, kids’ camp, and seasonal resort activities. This role ensures programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Fairmont luxury service standards. The Recreation Manager is accountable for staff development, guest engagement, departmental revenue, and operational excellence.
What you will be doing:
Strategic Leadership & Program Development
- Develop and provide input on recreational programs and activities that enhance the guest experience and align with resort objectives.
- Recommend content and activities for holiday and peak-season programs for children and adults, in collaboration with the Marketing, Food & Beverage, and Leisure teams.
- Monitor participation, forecast demand, and optimize scheduling and inventory for maximum engagement and revenue.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote recreation offerings and seasonal packages.
- Identify opportunities for innovation in recreation programming to differentiate the guest experience.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of all recreational facilities, including pools, beach, spa activities, kids’ camp, golf, and resort events.
- Ensure all recreational activities are conducted safely and comply with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Maintain facilities, equipment, and inventory to provide seamless guest experiences.
- Monitor departmental budgets, expenses, and payroll while implementing cost-control measures.
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations (e.g., pool chemical balance, lifeguard certifications).
- Supervise cash handling and point-of-sale systems for recreation services and retail.
People Leadership & Staff Development
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the Recreation team to deliver exceptional service and memorable experiences.
- Oversee staff training, coaching, goal-setting, and professional development.
- Ensure proper staffing levels to meet operational and guest requirements.
- Assist People & Culture and department leadership with recruitment, succession planning, and performance management.
- Foster a positive team culture, recognize achievements, and motivate staff to exceed guest expectations.
Guest Experience & Brand Standards
- Champion guest-focused initiatives to enhance satisfaction, engagement, and loyalty.
- Respond to guest inquiries, concerns, or complaints with professionalism and urgency.
- Ensure recreation service delivery reflects Fairmont luxury brand standards.
- Track guest feedback and engagement metrics to continuously improve programs and offerings.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with Food & Beverage, and other resort departments to coordinate programs and events.
- Collaborate with operational teams to maximize guest engagement.
- Represent the Recreation department in property meetings, committees, and service improvement initiatives.
Other Duties
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the Recreation department and resort operations.
