Summary:
The Used Car Service Lane Buyer plays a key role in sourcing pre-owned inventory by proactively engaging with service drive customers, identifying potential trade-ins, and presenting fair market offers to purchase their vehicles.
While attending auctions and off-site sourcing may occur, the primary focus of this position is to build relationships within the dealership鈥檚 service drive to acquire quality vehicles directly from existing guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engage with service drive customers to appraise and present purchase offers for their vehicles.
- Build rapport with guests, explain the vehicle appraisal process, and clearly communicate purchase options.
- Prospect, follow up, and schedule appointments with service guests and previous customers to acquire used vehicles.
- Utilize CRM and dealership tools to track leads, manage outreach, and document all buying activity.
- Conduct accurate appraisals by asking detailed questions, inspecting vehicles, taking photos, and entering data into Sonic鈥檚 automated inventory management system.
- Collaborate with Sales and Used Car Managers to structure competitive offers that align with current market conditions.
- Facilitate smooth transitions for customers interested in purchasing or leasing a new vehicle after selling theirs.
- Review monthly goals with management, analyze performance metrics, and refine strategies to maximize vehicle acquisitions from the service drive and other channels.
