SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for providing support and guidance to both employees and managers related to HR policies and practices.
- Local subject matter expert with respect to employment legislation and labor/union relations, and provides day-to-day support addressing HR related queries.
- Supports administrative activities associated with the employee lifecycle including but not limited to activities associated with local staffing additions/departures, health benefits communications, coaching related to performance management, and the reporting and investigation of policy (i.e. Code of Conduct, Harassment, etc.) or compliance violations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Payroll & Compliance
- 1st Reviewer for monthly payroll; ensure statutory and internal policy compliance.
- Provide guidance on Malaysian labour laws and ensure HR policy compliance.
- Responsible for internal/external HR audits.
- Oversee foreign worker administration (permits, renewals, compliance).
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Act as local HR for interviews and selection to ensure best-fit hiring.
- Review manpower requisitions and approve job offers within guidelines.
- Conduct HR orientation and ensure smooth onboarding for new joiners.
3. Employee & Industrial Relations
- Manage IR matters including disciplinary cases, investigations, and employee grievances.
- Advise managers and HR Operation Manager, APAC, on handling performance and conduct issues to ensure fair and consistent practice.
- Ensure assistance is available to counsel employees and managers to resolve issues such as policy and procedure interpretation, performance expectations, absenteeism, discipline, and workplace harassment and discrimination.
4. People, Engagement & Development
- Support managers in the performance management cycle (goal setting, reviews, follow-up).
- Partner with managers and HR Operation Manager, APAC, on engagement and retention initiatives at the site.
- Support HR-related programmes (engagement, recognition, wellbeing).
- Provide consultation, resources and training assistance to department and division management to assess and address ongoing training and development needs. Provide oversight to ensure equitable access to training opportunities.
5. Partner with HR Operation to provide HR System support, process standardization and centralization, implementation of global or regional project initiatives.
