Purpose
The Technical Project Manager – BI & Azure Data Platform is responsible for the structured delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of a global Business Intelligence and Azure Data Platform. The role acts as the central coordination layer between business stakeholders, self-service BI teams, and platform engineering, ensuring timely delivery, governance compliance, operational stability, and alignment with enterprise data strategy.
Team / Project Description
The role is part of a global Cloud Data & Analytics organization responsible for operating and evolving an enterprise-scale BI and Azure Data Platform. The team works across multiple regions and functions, enabling governed self-service analytics while ensuring platform reliability, security, and compliance.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Lead technical project management for BI and Azure Data Platform initiatives, ensuring structured planning, execution, and delivery.
- Act as a proxy Product Owner, translating business requirements into clear work packages, user stories, and prioritized backlogs.
- Coordinate delivery across business stakeholders, self-service BI teams, and central platform engineering.
- Manage dependencies, timelines, risks, and deliverables across multiple parallel initiatives.
- Apply agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) while integrating traditional project management practices where required.
- Support and guide teams in the use of Microsoft BI and Power Platform solutions, including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Ensure alignment with Azure Cloud & Data architecture, including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, dbt, and data warehousing concepts.
- Oversee incident and operational management, coordinating resolution with engineering teams and ensuring clear stakeholder communication.
- Ensure service stability, minimal disruption, and continuous improvement of the BI platform.
- Enforce enterprise governance, security, and compliance standards, including Azure identity, access management, and data governance.
- Coach teams on self-service BI best practices, platform standards, and governance requirements.
- Facilitate stakeholder alignment, expectation management, and decision-making across technical and non-technical teams.
- Identify and proactively remove delivery impediments, optimizing processes and ways of working.
- Maintain transparency through structured reporting, documentation, and use of tools such as Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
