Operational Value Stream Owner (OVSO) Assurance
Purpose of the Role
The Operational Value Stream Owner ensures the end-to-end performance, stability, and operational delivery of a defined value stream.
They act as the main interface between the business and the IT Centers of Excellence (CoEs) that execute delivery.
Their primary mission is to ensure that business demands are clearly defined, operational services run reliably, and improvements are delivered efficiently and transparently.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business–IT Interface & Demand Management
- Serve as the single point of contact between business stakeholders and CoEs for operational delivery.
- Manage and steer the Business Analysts engaged with the business to ensure consistent demand definition and prioritization.
- Validate that business requirements are complete, aligned with IT standards, and ready for execution by CoEs.
- Maintain a clear and transparent demand funnel and backlog overview for the value stream.
2. Operational Governance
- Oversee end-to-end service delivery (SLA, MTTR, availability, stability) are met.
- Lead operational reviews with business to track delivery progress, incident performance, and improvement actions.
- Ensure compliance with ITSM, change management, and release processes.
- Manage escalations effectively and coordinate resolution across multiple delivery teams.
3. Coordination with Centers of Excellence (CoEs)
- Coordinate multiple CoEs (e.g., ITSM, Assurance, Automation, Platform, Data) to ensure coherent and efficient delivery.
- Secure alignment between business priorities and CoE delivery capacities.
- Ensure CoEs execute agreed tasks and improvement measures according to the plan.
- Drive continuous optimization of interfaces, workflows, and reporting between CoEs.
4. Testing & Quality Assurance
- Oversee end-to-end testing activities.
- Ensure test coverage, business scenario validation, and defect resolution before go-live.
- Manage test readiness, acceptance, and regression testing across releases in cooperation with CoEs and business teams.
5. Financials & Capacity
- Monitor OPEX budgets and resource utilization across the value stream’s operational scope.
- Balance business demand with available capacity and proactively manage risks and constraints.
- Contribute to quarterly planning and continuous efficiency improvement initiatives.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Use data-driven insights to identify bottlenecks, process inefficiencies, and automation opportunities.
- Drive root-cause analysis for recurring incidents or performance issues.
- Collaborate with CoEs to implement optimization measures that enhance quality and reduce operational costs.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of IT operations, service management, and business process flows.
- Proven experience managing business analysis, testing coordination, or service delivery teams.
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills — able to translate between technical and business language.
- Solid knowledge of Agile and ITIL frameworks.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, and test management tools.
- Analytical mindset with attention to process efficiency and data transparency.
