AbbVie's Immunology Discovery organization is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist I to join our Immune Profiling Systems Immunology team within the Discovery Immunology organization in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The successful candidate will contribute to the identification, validation, and prioritization of novel therapeutic targets for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases through the integration of experimental immunology and quantitative data analysis.
This role is ideal for a scientist who enjoys working at the interface of wet-laboratory experimentation and computational analysis. The candidate will design and execute human disease-relevant experiments, with an emphasis on complex in vitro models such as organoids or complex co-culture systems and their characterization using a range of high-throughput methodologies. They will generate high-dimensional datasets, analyze and interpret results, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to advance discovery programs and portfolio decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and interpret immunology-focused experiments using primary human cells, PBMCs, tissues, and disease-relevant model systems.
- Design and execute studies using complex in vitro models, including organoids or complex co-culture systems, and characterize these models using a range of high-throughput methodologies, such as multiplexed assays and sequencing-based profiling.
- Develop and implement assays to characterize immune cell function, signaling pathways, cellular phenotypes, and therapeutic mechanisms of action.
- Generate and analyze data from flow cytometry, cytokine profiling, NGS-based approaches, single-cell and spatial profiling workflows, and other molecular profiling platforms.
- Partner with computational biologists, bioinformaticians, translational scientists, and disease-area teams to develop mechanistic insights and prioritize therapeutic targets.
- Apply statistical and computational approaches to analyze complex datasets and communicate findings clearly to multidisciplinary audiences.
- Maintain accurate experimental records and contribute to scientific reports, presentations, and project reviews.
- Stay current with advances in immunology, translational research, systems biology, and emerging technologies and incorporate new approaches into discovery programs.
- Present findings to project teams, leadership, and external scientific forums as appropriate.
- Contribute to the scientific culture through collaboration, mentorship of junior scientists, and sharing of technical expertise.
