General Superintendent – Convention Center Construction Project
Position Overview
The General Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction operations for a convention center project. This role involves managing on-site activities, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining project schedules, and delivering high-quality results within budget. The General Superintendent will lead the construction team, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure effective communication between stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily construction site operations, ensuring work is completed efficiently and in compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Maintain construction schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Project Managers and stakeholders.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Collaborate with the project team to address any design or construction challenges.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure adherence to OSHA and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for on-site personnel.
- Identify and mitigate risks to maintain a safe work environment.
- Lead and mentor the construction team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Resolve conflicts and ensure effective communication among team members and subcontractors.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure team members perform at their best.
- Monitor project budgets and control costs to avoid overruns.
- Manage resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize efficiency.
- Approve and track change orders, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives.
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and addressing concerns.
- Represent the company at project meetings and ensure client satisfaction.
