We are looking to recruit a Principal Transport Planner with strong transport modelling skills and experience in economic appraisal. The role will primarily focus on technical delivery, leading modelling work and providing support and guidance to less experienced members of the team.

The preferred candidate would have practical experience in at least one of SATURN, VISSIM or Aimsun. They should be capable of taking responsibility for modelling tasks from agreeing the approach and reviewing input data through to model development, calibration, validation, forecasting and reporting.

About the role:

• Leading the development and application of transport models to support transport studies, scheme development and business cases.
• Developing forecasting assumptions and testing transport interventions, development scenarios and network changes.
• Checking models and outputs, identifying issues and resolving technical problems.
• Interpreting results and explaining what they mean for network performance and scheme development.
• Undertaking economic appraisal, including preparing model outputs for use in tools such as TUBA and COBALT, checking results and reporting benefits and value for money.
• Preparing and reviewing technical reports in accordance with relevant TAG requirements.
• Managing the programme, budget and quality of modelling and appraisal workstreams.
• Supervising and mentoring colleagues, helping to build modelling and appraisal capability within the team.
