We are seeking a skilled, safety-focused Machinist to join our Edmonton team. Our facility specializes in manual machining to prepare custom, low-volume specimens for a material testing environment. Working independently, you will assess raw materials and select, set up, and operate the appropriate machinery to produce high-precision samples. This role is ideal for a positive, self-motivated individual who values autonomy and enjoys contributing to a close-knit team.
Core Responsibilities
- Conventional Machining: Safely operate manual machine tools—including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders—for approximately 80% of the time.
- Standards & Compliance: Prepare specimen samples in strict accordance with CSA, ASTM, and ASME standards and customer requirements.
- Programming & Controls: Utilize Manual G-Code (Haas Control) and Conversational Programming (Proto-Trak) for specialized setups.
- Inspection & Quality Control: Measure and verify finished part conformance to strict tolerance standards using precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, and gauges).
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment issues and perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize shop downtime.
- Safety & Environment: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment under fast-paced, tight deadlines without compromising safety protocols.
