We are seeking a Principal Highways Engineer to lead engineering delivery on medium to large road and highway projects.
As a senior technical specialist, you will guide design teams, resolve complex engineering challenges and provide trusted advice to clients. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with responsibility for design quality, engineering budgets and schedules, helping teams deliver practical solutions that meet project requirements.
How you’ll make a difference
Serve as lead engineer highway projects, guiding technical delivery and coordinating multidisciplinary design interfaces.
Provide specialist highways engineering input into feasibility studies, concept development and detailed design.
Review, approve and sign off engineering deliverables within your area of expertise and delegated authority.
Undertake quality control reviews of work prepared by others, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
Develop and present complex technical solutions to clients, explaining design decisions, risks and recommendations clearly.
Prepare engineering budget and schedule estimates, defining the scope and resources required for delivery.
Contribute to technical proposals, including methodology, scope, fee estimates and programme development.
Support engineers through technical guidance, constructive design reviews and knowledge sharing.
