The Laundry Attendant reports to the Assistant Director, Housekeeping and is responsible for the efficient processing of hotel, staff, and guest laundry. This role contributes to the cleanliness, presentation, and quality of linens, towels, uniforms, and guest clothing while ensuring proper equipment use and adherence to safety and hygiene standards. The Laundry Attendant supports smooth hotel operations, upholds Fairmont brand standards, and contributes to a clean, organized, and service-focused work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Laundry Operations & Processing
Sort laundry by type, fabric, and required care, ensuring proper handling of guest, staff, and hotel items.
Wash, dry, fold, and press items following established procedures and machine settings.
Treat stains and spot-clean items using approved cleaning agents and methods.
Operate commercial laundry equipment—including washers, dryers, ironers, steamers, and folders—safely and efficiently.
Inspect all laundered items for cleanliness, quality, and damage before returning them to service.
Maintain organization, cleanliness, and supply levels within the laundry room and related work areas.
Quality, Guest Experience & Brand Standards
Ensure all linens, uniforms, and guest items meet Fairmont cleanliness, presentation, and quality standards.
Handle guest clothing with care, discretion, and attention to detail.
Respond professionally and courteously to guest or colleague inquiries related to laundry services.
Uphold all health, safety, hygiene, and environmental policies in line with Fairmont standards.
Teamwork & Department Support
Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Uniform Room, and other operational teams to meet daily linen and garment needs.
Support efficient linen flow by coordinating with Housekeeping Room Attendants and Supervisors during peak periods.
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
Assist with the training or orientation of new Laundry team members as required.
Operational Support & Documentation
Monitor and report equipment malfunctions, shortages, or maintenance needs promptly.
Support proper chemical handling, labelling, and storage according to safety protocols.
Maintain logs or records as required for laundry loads, damaged items, inventory, or machine usage.
Follow safe lifting, handling, and ergonomic practices.
Other duties as assigned.
